Avid Yacht Services has recently re-located to the south west of England, close to the beautiful Exe Estuary in Devon and can undertake pre-purchase, insurance, damage and repair surveys on FRP, steel and aluminium yachts and small craft as well as assisting with preparation for MCA and BSS certification. Based in East Devon, we are ideally situated to conduct surveys in Devon, Cornwall and Dorset. Additionally, we can undertake electronic rig-testing using the Maidsure Rigtester.
My name is Alistair Glen and I have been involved with yachts and small craft for the last forty years. I trained as a yacht surveyor at the internationally renowned International Boatbuilding Training College (IBTC), passing the intensive practical surveying course with distinction. As a graduate of that course I am privileged to hold membership of British Marine Surveyors Europe (BMSE), an internationally respected network of many of the world's most experienced and knowledgeable marine surveyors, giving me access to a wealth of additional data, advice, opinion and support. Employ one BMSE surveyor and you employ us all.
I am determined to provide professional surveys at competitive rates and I carry appropriate PI and PL insurances. I have a background in conducting and reporting on, high-level inspections within a high-profile organisation and understand the importance of clear, concise reports.
